Comparative analysis of text classification algorithms for automated labelling of quranic verses

    Get PDF
The ultimate goal of labelling a Quranic verse is to determine its corresponding theme. However, the existing Quranic verse labelling approach is primarily depending on the availability of Quranic scholars who have expertise in Arabic language and Tafseer. In this paper, we propose to automate the labelling task of the Quranic verse using text classification algorithms. We applied three text classification algorithms namely, k-Nearest Neighbour, Support Vector Machine, and Naïve Bayes in automating the labelling procedure. In our experiment with the classification algorithms English translation of the verses are presented as features. The English translation of the verses are then classified as “Shahadah” (the first pillar of Islam) or “Pray” (the second pillar of Islam). It is found that all of the text classification algorithms are capable to achieve more than 70% accuracy in labelling the Quranic verses

Tailoring human resource management in home furnishing business

Computer-based human resource management system (HRM) system is one of potential Information and Communication Technology (ICT) application in business organization (Betchoo, 2016). The ultimate goal of most HRM systems is to improve efficiency in managing employee records and helping directors in planning staff development programs (Yan, 2013). Like other paper based information systems, conventional paper-based procedures in HRM are very prone to various weaknesses. In tailoring a HRM system into home furnishing business, this research documented a number of observations that eventually lead to the bottom line of any profit-making companies, which is cost

Comparative analysis of classification algorithms for chronic kidney disease diagnosis

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is one of the leading cause of death contributed by other illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, lupus, anemia or weak bones that lead to bone fractures. Early prediction of CKD is important in order to contain the disesase. However, instead of predicting the severity of CKD, the objective of this paper is to predict the diagnosis of CKD based on the symptoms or attributes observed in a particular case, whether the stage is acute or chronic. To achieve this, a classification model is proposed to label stage of severity for kidney diseases patients. The experiments then investigated the performance of the proposed classification model based on eight supervised classification algorithms, which are ZeroR, Rule Induction, Support Vector Machine, NaĂŻve Bayes, Decision Tree, Decision Stump, k-Nearest Neighbour, and Classification via Regression. The performance of the all classifiers is evaluated based on accuracy, precision, and recall. The results showed that the regression classifier perform best in the kidney diagnostic procedure

A Bus Tracking Information System using Consumer Grade GPS: A Case Study

A real-time tracking of public bus movement may help passengers plan their travel and reduce stress due to uncertainty. Several bus tracking information systems have been proposed, but costly to implement and also take longer time to setup. In this paper, a bus tracking information system using standard mobile Internet connection and consumer grade GPS is proposed, called UBAIS (University Bus Arrival Information System). The system will continuously update the estimated arrival time based on the actual location of the buses in the route leading to the next bus stop. With graphical information provided to the passenger via a mobile phone, passengers will be able to view the actual location of the buses in the route. A prototype for Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia’s bus service has been implemented – consisting of buses equipped with Android devices that will continuously send current GPS locations of the buses to a centralized server and read by clients (fixed or mobile) with various update intervals. Several testing has been performed on the current prototype and it demonstrates good accuracy and increased satisfaction among passenger

An enhanced possibilistic programming model with fuzzy random confidence-interval for multi-objective problem

Mathematical models are established to represent real-world problems. Since the real-world faces various types of uncertainties, it makes mathematical model suffers with insufficient uncertainties modeling. The existing models lack of explanation in dealing uncertainties. In this paper, construction of mathematical model for decision making scenario with uncertainties is presented. Primarily, fuzzy random regression is applied to formulate a corresponding mathematical model from real application of a multi-objective problem. Then, a technique in possibilistic theory, known as modality optimization is used to solve the developed model. Consequently, the result shows that a well-defined multi-objective mathematical model is possible to be formulated for decision making problems with the uncertainty. Indeed, such problems with uncertainties can be solved efficiently with the presence of modality optimization

Cooling pads are commonly used to reduce temperature of laptop to avoid overheating problem. However, existing cooling pads are prone to various limitations: fixed voltage in the hardware component, inaccurate temperature readings and lacked of computer-based temperature monitoring functions. In this paper, a laptop cooling system with multivoltage fan speed controller using real-time processor temperature readings is proposed. A graphical user interface (GUI) and color coded LEDs are also implemented to provide visual inspection of the temperature values captured from the laptop. The temperature values are displayed in graph and tabular form. The performance of the proposed cooling pad with computer-based monitoring application is evaluated against two other types of existing cooling pad systems. The experiments have shown that the temperature values can be monitored clearly with the proposed GUI. More importantly, the proposed cooling pad system has the potential to achieve lower temperature faster than the rest of the existing cooling pad systems
